Someone has to actually install it

A control system is only as good as the day it was commissioned and the week after something broke. We have done this across roughly 300 properties, and the process below is what we learned to do rather than what we planned to do.

Deployment

Four phases, no surprises in the middle

Every phase ends with something you can inspect — a document, a working segment, a signed-off room list. If a project is going to go wrong, you will know at the end of a phase rather than at handover.

Survey & design

We walk the building — or read the drawings — and come back with a segment plan, a cable route, an AC-interface inventory per room and a bill of materials. You find out what the installation actually involves before you commit to it, including the rooms that will need something unusual.

Installation

Wiring can be done by our team, by a trained integrator, or by the property’s own electrical contractor working to our schedule. The bus runs on ordinary structured cable in a daisy-chain, so this is not specialist work — it is work your existing contractor already knows how to do.

Commissioning

An Android app on the installer’s phone does the whole discovery and addressing workflow: sweep the segment, scan the module’s QR label, assign the room and floor, confirm the device answers. It works offline in a riser with no signal and syncs when it gets one.

Integration & handover

We connect the property management system, configure alarm routing to your actual staff structure, set the energy policy for each room type, and train the people who will use it. You leave with a configuration backup and a restore procedure that does not require us.

After handover

Support that does not start with a site visit

The cost of running a building system is mostly the cost of getting someone to it. Almost everything we do to a live installation, we do without leaving the office.

Remote diagnostics

Most faults are diagnosed without anyone driving anywhere. An engineer can enumerate serial ports, restart the site service under a watchdog, sweep every controller on the bus with live per-device results, and read a device’s serial and firmware straight off the wire — from a phone.

Firmware & software updates

Room modules, gateways and site services all update remotely. Rollouts are staged across the estate and version-gated, so a release reaches a pilot group before it reaches everything you own.

Device replacement

Controllers fail and get swapped. Scan the replacement, pick the room, and it inherits the address and mapping of the unit it replaced — with both serials recorded. Room mappings are held separately from hardware identity, so replacing a device never loses the configuration behind it.

Escalation to the people who wrote it

There is no first-line script standing between you and the engineer who maintains the code. It is one of the practical advantages of buying from the company that builds the product rather than from a reseller.

Training

Trained by role, not by manual

Nobody at a front desk is going to read a system manual, and they should not have to. Each group is trained on the part of the system they will actually touch.

Front desk

Room status, guest signals, manual override, acknowledging alerts. Around an hour.

Housekeeping

The cleaning queue, make-up-room and laundry requests, DND handling, overdue rooms.

Engineering

Alarms and fault codes, work orders, the offline list, diagnostics and bus tools.

Management

Energy reporting, setback policy, occupancy analysis, alert routing and thresholds.

IT

Architecture, backup and restore, integration surfaces, user and role administration.

Hotels have turnover. Refresher sessions for new staff are part of an ongoing arrangement rather than a chargeable extra every time reception changes.

Engagement

Three ways to buy

Supply only

Hardware, firmware and software, with commissioning support for your own integrator. For chains that already have an installation partner they trust.

Supply & install

End-to-end delivery: survey, cabling, commissioning, integration and training, to an agreed handover date. The usual choice for a single property or a first site.

Managed

We keep the estate patched, monitored and diagnosed, with agreed response commitments. The usual choice for chains without a dedicated building-systems team.
